I was going to use VSC for Flutter development, but Android Studio looks much better for that - offering some drag and drop visual tools for UI development and a lot of info from a performance perspective that I have not seen in VSC.
I think (since repetition helps me learn new stuff) that I will begin working in both VSC and Pycharm and see where it goes from there. Linting, refactoring, Autocompletion generally works just better in P圜harm and it had an annoying autocomplete bug fixed that came with Tensorflow's 2.x import structure while VSCode's python extension was lacking behind. What I have to give P圜harm, is that it has some deeper understanding of Python. The command prompt and shortcuts (especially for multi-selections) may or may not be something that P圜harm offers somewhere, but I'm so much used to them in VSCode that I would probably add use-of-habbit and conenvience to the list. I'm not used to this good kind of quality from microsoft, but I like the direction they are going. The community/Microsoft is very actively working on the project on github and so far they are doing an excellent job. I had no prior knowledge about typescript or javascript, but found it very easy to write a custom extension that I regularly use in my company. Thus your shortcuts stay the same, your debugger looks the same for every language, you can open c++ files and python files side-by-side with the same font (I know this is a minor thing for most people, but I never managed to get P圜harm's font look right to me). C++, Markdown, config files, log files, my journals, etc etc. I use VSCode for almost everything, not just python. lots of complex launch configurations, it's so much more conventient to have a launch.json file instead of clicking through the P圜harm Interface and add all your arguments in a tiny single line widget. Settings are very well structured and not hidden somewhere deep in the UI and you can access or change most of them from the command prompt. I think what I like the most about VSCode over P圜harm, is that you can configure everything in json files instead of using the UI.
PYCHARM COST FREE
I have used both, but eventually moved over to VSCode, even though I still have free student access to P圜harm.Īs the other guy said, VSCode feels much faster and imo much better organized.
